Artist Statement
I am an artist and I love color. Speech therapy with children is my career and day job. I enjoy seeing my art translated onto everyday objects. I have been creating art since childhood but I seriously began studying and drawing at around age 28. My art was born of a passion to put on paper the glorious images that constantly danced in my mind. I am ever learning, evolving and growing as an artist. I believe that all artistic talent is truly a beautiful and heavenly gift as well as means of therapeutic expression. I enjoy painting in bright color acrylics and mixed media collage on canvas. I'm lately exploring abstract as well as expressionist painting with loose strokes. I often add hand lettering and words to my art. I love to paint whatever subject catches my eye with it's beauty and fills my heart with joy! I’ve had to be quite intentional about pursuing my passion for Art. I am constantly exploring and developing as an artist. I paint in a variety of color palettes, mediums and subjects. My artistic calling is to uplift the heart and communicate hope through joyful flowing colors. I am known for bold splashes of color, unfettered mark making and art that touches the viewer and lights up a room. The most satisfying outcome I find in my creative pursuit is hearing stories of how a specific painting of mine made a positive difference in someone’s life. It’s amazing how one piece of art seen at the right moment can do that but it can. I always paint from a spiritual place of abundance, freedom and joy or I don’t paint at all. Painting is therapy and my way of processing and expressing this beautiful life. When a painting comes together just as it should, and I know I’m done… I often cry tears of joy.
